Tuesday Tasties: Peppermint Oreo Truffles

This week’s Tuesday Tasties recipe is PEPPERMINT OREO TRUFFLES. It comes from Handle the Heat, and I wanted to share this recipe with you because I am in love with these truffles. They’re rich, chocolatey, and perfectly peppermint flavored. They’re wonderful for the holidays, and I have been making multiple batches to feed to friends and family! Follow the link for the full recipe and read on for tips on making these delicious truffles!

TIPS:

  • Oreo packages nowadays don’t come with 39 Oreos, so don’t add quite the full 8 oz. of cream cheese. Otherwise, you might end up with a too-liquidy mixture that won’t hold up!
  • If the truffles are too big, half or quarter them – they’re rich enough that nobody will know the difference! A way to avoid this, however, is to refrigerate the truffle mixture for a few minutes to harden it a little, and then roll the balls with your hands instead of a cookie scoop. You can then control how big the truffles will be.
  • If you make really small truffles, you may need more than 2 cups of chocolate chips and 1 T. of oil – make a double batch or a batch and a half of coating to make up for that.
  • Store these in the freezer instead of the refrigerator! They won’t be too hard, but will be slightly firmer and chocolate and peppermint always taste amazing when they’re cold 🙂

Give these a try, you won’t be sorry! They’re amazing! If you do try them, I’d love to hear your thoughts (like or comment)! I encourage you to comment on Handle the Heat’s blog as well 🙂
